WE NEED YOUR VOICE AND SUPPORT

The Kelowna Legacy Group is a collection of concerned citizens who want to open up a discussion regarding future developments in Kelowna's Cultural District. We want to think bigger and have these development projects be part of a well thought out plan and vision for our city, because we believe our downtown lakefront planning is imperative to the future of Kelowna. Our eyes are currently set on the prime piece of land in Kelowna, formerly the RCMP building.

Our Letter

WHY THIS IS SO IMPORTANT

THE PRECINCT PLAN IS INCOMPLETE

The City of Kelowna has an agreement with the Simpson Family who donated the land to the city, which is not being upheld. Read more about the Sawmill Agreement here.

PRIME LOCATION

The location of the old RCMP building is such a prominent lot, and whatever goes in this space is going to shape the city core forever. We should be focused on using this space to it's full potential.

CONDO FATIGUE

Is another condo or high-rise the best choice for this valuable location? Another purely real estate development means only those homeowners gain the benefit of this property, rather than our whole city. Media Release

COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITY

Arts & culture, business, shopping, parks and more are all key elements of our downtown community. Whatever goes in this space should benefit all segments of our population and bring us together.

FUNDING OPTIONS

Large scale developments can be funded beyond taxpayer's money through public-private partnerships. There are many ways to fund successful projects where everyone wins as seen around the world.
